Grubhub improves dining experience for college students with latest innovations
By Trey Weston
Ah, college. A season of life late-night Taco Bell or McDonald's runs mixed with many empty ramen noodles cups that almost surely guarantee the freshman fifteen occurring at some point in the four-year time frame. However, with technology continuing to evolve, Grubhub wants to ensure students have an improved campus dining experience.
With many college students prioritizing sustainability, Grubhub has made the necessary changes to assist the 4.5 million students from more than 360 campuses. Not only will the adjustments be eco-friendly, but they will also allow students to save time.
Here is a breakdown of some of the new changes that will be hitting college campuses this fall courtesy of Grubhub:
Robot Delivery
Beginning to make their way to campuses across the country are robotic machines that deliver food, allowing for fast, easy, and eco-friendly service. Students who choose this option can order from participating restaurants, track their robot's journey, and receive an alert upon their food's arrival. Talk about how much tech has evolved!
Just Walk Out Technology
Already appearing in various spots throughout the country, the just walk-out technology is coming to universities this fall. For those unaware, it is the ability to walk out of the store, and your card is charged instantly for what you took. But be sure you don't forget what you are taking out because you will get charged for everything.
Zero-Waste Packaging
In a partnership with Topanga, Grubhub is hitting hard the message that they care about the environment and sustainability. The two have formed to design zero-waste reusable packaging that promotes eco-friendliness and a more sustainable campus.
Integrated Meal Plans
One of the more exciting things stemming from the innovations is the ability for students to use their meal credits through the Grubhub app. This one is super convenient because it allows you to select on-campus and local dining options.
