Halloween season kicks into gear with Hostess fall lineup announcement

As summer begins to come to a close, many begin to shift their focus to fall. The season promises changing leaves, cooler weather, football, and Halloween. While candy is a major part of the holiday, Hostess serves other sweet treats to get people in the holiday spirit.

As part of its fall lineup, the company is releasing both pumpkin-themed items and rethemed classics for Halloween. Per PR provided by Hostess to Guilty Eats, here is the full list of products that will be making their way to stores:

• Hostess Pumpkin Spice Twinkies: Pumpkin spice-flavored crème filling paired with fluffy cake captures the spirit of the season.
• Hostess Iced Pumpkin CupCakes: Iced pumpkin-flavored cake with signature crème filling makes for the perfect snack.
• Hostess Maple Glazed Donettes: The light, bite-sized cake donuts covered with a sweet maple glazed-flavored coating offer a delightful fall twist to the classic Donettes.
• NEW Hostess FrankenCakes: Soft yellow cake and signature crème filling topped with green icing and The Original Squiggle makes for a spook-tacular treat.  
• Hostess Spooky Twinkies: Fluffy chocolate cake and signature crème filling create a scary good treat. 
• Hostess ScaryCakes: Soft chocolate cake with signature crème filling topped with orange icing and The Original Squiggle offers a sweet snack for the season.

In addition to the Hostess release, Voortman is also getting in the fall spirit with two limited-time products. Voortman Pumpkin Wafers and Voortman Fall Favorites cookies will appear in retailers nationwide. The nice thing about Voortman is they don't use artificial ingredients.

Now, as you plan for Halloween parties or what to give trick-or-treaters, you have a few more options instead of just handing out candy. Is this the year you switch out the king-size Skittles and give kids Twinkies instead?
