Jeni’s adds spice to ice (cream) with Fly by Jing’s Sichuan Chili Crisp
If you like a little spice with your ice, then you’re going to love what’s coming next from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream. The brand has teamed up with Fly By Jing for a limited edition collabo called “Spice Cream,” featuring Sichuan Chili Crisp.
”Chili crisp really is good on everything,” said Fly By Jing founder Jing Gao via a statement provided to Guilty Eats. ”Especially ice cream. When I first saw this combo at an ice cream shop in Sichuan back in 2018, I knew everyone needed to try it. I've been a Jeni's superfan for years, so this collab is a dream come true. The sweet creaminess of ice cream against the savory, crunchy heat of chili crisp will blow your mind and taste buds. My favorite summer dinner party trick is whipping out a couple pints of Jeni's and a jar of Sichuan Chili Crisp and watch my friends’ eyes light up once they take a bite. I can't wait for you to try!”
If you do want to try the combo, you can do so starting July 11 at Jeni’s scoop shops, or online at Jenis.com. In shops, you can ask for the LTO (limited time only) “Spice Cream” pairing on three flavors: Double Dough, Salty Caramel or Darkest Chocolate. For no extra cost – yep, that’s right, this is a free topping, you can get the Fly By Jing chili crisp poured on top of your ice cream, served in a waffle cone.
On the other hand, if you don’t have a Jeni’s near you, you can get the Spice Cream Collection bundle. It includes a six ounce jar of the Fly By Jing Sichuan Chili Crisp, as well as pints of the three aforementioned flavors, a pint of Honey Vanilla Bean, and a pint of Sparkling Cherry Pie. The last one means double the Sichuan peppercorns, as Sparkling Cherry Pie is a mix of Sichuan peppercorn ice cream, and sour cherry ice cream, with shortbread crust and cherry jam mixed in. This set is available also on Thursday, for $68 only on Jenis.com.
So there you have it! Time to make that summer ice cream social real swicy with Jeni’s and chili crisp.
