KFC gets in on the 4/20 action with a Saucy Nuggets dispensary in LA

Why are they not called Dank Nugs? What are we even doing here?

The brands: they love 4/20. The unofficial weed holiday is coming this Saturday, and chains everywhere are getting in on the action, including KFC who is using the occasion to launch a Saucy Nuggets dispensary in Los Angeles. And somehow, beyond all reason, they don’t reference “dank nugs” anywhere in the provided info.

Located at 1306 Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, California, the KFC Saucy Nuggets Dispensary will be open this Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 12pm to 6pm PST. There, comedian Niles Abston and “saucier” Ian Fujimoto “will be on hand to help guide guests through the immersive experience,” per info provided by KFC to Guilty Eats.

That experience includes matching guests to their perfect Saucy Nuggets, getting said Saucy Nuggets, and also snagging some limited-edition merchandise (Saucy Nuggets? Perhaps. Probably not, though. Those are the opposite of limited edition, they're everywhere!)

In case you’re not familiar with the Saucy Nuggets line, which launched earlier this year, we reviewed it here on Guilty Eats and generally dug it. The five flavors are:  Honey Sriracha,  Korean BBQ, Sticky Chicky Sweet ‘n Sour, Nashville Hot, and Georgia Gold. In addition, the brand launched Apple Pie Poppers, which are phenomenal but don’t seem to be part of this particular 4/20 celebration.

So since they aren’t making a dank nugs reference here, why launch Saucy Nuggets out of a dispensary? Other than KFC being the perfect munchies food (or so I hear, that’s the scuttlebutt)? The reason provided is so KFC can help LA locals “indulge in a ‘higher’ form of nugget.” They also note, “Legal told us to disclose that the real Mary Jane will not be invited or permitted at the event.” So, plan accordingly.

You can check out the dispensary at the hours and location above this Saturday. And I guess they didn’t want their Saucy Nuggets described as “dank,” about an unappetizing word as I can imagine. Good call, KFC marketing department.
