KFC might be the home of delicious fried chicken, but we all know that they are also known for at least two of their iconic sides. And honestly, if we are getting fried chicken from KFC, then we are also getting ourselves their coleslaw and mashed potatoes.

Sometimes when we head to KFC we want something a bit different. Luckily for us, the menu at the fast food chicken giant is more than just fried chicken, it also includes their "Famous Bowls and Mac & Cheese Bowls." So what would make their bowls even better? How about going all out with the potatoes!

According to a press email we received on behalf of the brand, in a first since 2019, KFC has decided to bring a new wave of innovation to their bowls. That is because they are introducing their new Smash’d Potato Bowl, which actually is the first bowl to feature the brand's French fries.

KFC introduced a new bowl that is all about their potatoes

This bowl is all about the potatoes and after getting a chance to try it for ourselves, we agree that this is a winning combination. While you can just get the Smash’d Potato Bowl with its "mashed potatoes topped with crispy Secret Recipe fries, warm cheese sauce, bacon crumbles and a sprinkle of three-cheese blend," another option is to actually add the KFC nuggets on top.

We decided to add the chicken nuggets since we can't go to KFC and not get chicken, and we were not disappointed in the least. Not only is this bowl all about the brand's potato products, but the addition of the chicken really elevated the dish to a whole new level. It honestly brought so much more flavor to the party that we can't imagine not ordering it with the nuggets in the future.

The fun thing about the Smash'd Potato Bowl is that it actually could be a great side as a sort of loaded mashed potatoes. It would pair perfectly with a bucket of their Original Recipe Fried Chicken and a side of coleslaw and now that we realize it, we think that might just be what we do the next time we head to our closest KFC.

What do you think fellow foodies? Are you a fan of KFC bowls? Will you be trying their new Smash'd Potato Bowl? Will you be trying with or without the nuggets?
