Krispy Kreme Wants You to Take a Doughnut Detour This Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend is going to be a busy one for traveling to see friends and family, and along with that comes a lot of expense. You’ve got to get gas for your car, buy a ton of burgers and hot dogs, and most importantly fuel up your kids – and yourself – for the ride. Enter Krispy Kreme, who would very much like you to take a “doughnut detour” this weekend with a sweet deal on their sweet treats.

“38.4 million people may be on the road this holiday weekend. We’ve got a great deal for every one of them that will make those road trip memories happier and more delicious,” said Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme Global Chief Brand Officer, via a press release provided to Guilty Eats.

So if you do pull off the road upon seeing that red light in the Krispy Kreme window, what kind of deal are we talking here? Well, I’ll tell you. Buy any dozen at the regular price, and you’ll get a second Original Glazed dozen for $3.84, in honor of the 38.4 million doughnuts you’re going to eat this weekend. I mean, the 38.4 million people traveling this weekend, that’s definitely what I meant. Not the other thing.

The deal is open the whole weekend, from Friday, May 24 through Monday, May 27 – though obviously you should check to see if your local Krispy Kreme is open those days, and if that weird Krispy Kreme off the side of the road as you’re driving is not actually a Krispy Kreme but in fact a murderous drifter holding a laser pointer instead of a Krispy Kreme neon sign. In that case, the only cheap dozen you’re going to get is “stabbed a dozen times.”
