Molly Baz becomes first pregnant woman on a cereal box

I’ve often felt pregnant after eating too much cereal, but this seems to be a slightly different thing.

Move over, Toucan Sam and Tony the Tiger: cookbook author Molly Baz is making history as the first-ever pregnant woman on a cereal box. The new Special K box will feature the extremely pregnant Baz as she enjoys a delicious bowl of Special K, presumably with pickles and ice cream or whatever. I know a lot about human biology!

"If you know me, you know I am a freak for cereal. Cereal got me through pregnancy in a very real way," Molly Baz said via a press release provided to Guilty Eats. "And as a diehard Special K girlie, and longtime customer, it is an honor to be given the opportunity to design my own Special K box alongside my husband. I'm thrilled to use this moment as a billboard and platform where we can celebrate the mind-blowing miracle of pregnancy and motherhood that is happening around us all and is nothing short of a dream come true."

The new box is part of Special K’s “Special for a Reason” campaign, which highlights “inspiring individuals” like Baz who are telling their stories through various means – like cooking in Baz’s case.

"Special K has always designed food around people. This is why we want these Special K boxes - front and back - to be a celebration of everything that makes people unique," Sadie Garcia Senior Director of Brand Marketing at WK Kellogg Co added. "We are thrilled to be teaming up with Molly for this initiative as someone who embraces being true to yourself. Together, our goal is to deepen that pride and highlight that everyone's journey to motherhood looks different, but each path is special in its own way."

Alongside the cereal boxes, the company is donating $25,000 to the United Way, and specifically the Women United program which supports women and girls towards the goal of creating “stronger, healthier communities.”

However, you won’t see the Baz boxes on shelves next to your sugary, non-pregnant cereal mascots. You can only get them at www.kelloggstore.com/Molly-Baz while supplies last. Presumably that’s 9-10 months, but I might be making that figure up (this is my final pregnancy joke, just roll with it).
