Ohtani's quest for 57-57 could mean free Heinz for 57 fans
By Trey Weston
If you have paid any sort of attention to Major League Baseball this season, then you are well aware of the season that Shohei Ohtani is having. Fresh off of his in-city move from the Angels to the Dodgers last offseason, Othani is having one of the greatest statistical seasons ever by a player. And now, Heinz is offering 57 fans a chance of a lifetime if he can pull off the unthinkable in the final three games of the season.
If Ohtani reaches 57 homers and 57 steals, 57 lucky fans will receive special bottles like the one above and ketchup for life. Currently, he sits at 53 homers and 56 stolen bases, which means it is very much in reach for the Japanese slugger.
What's next for Shohei?
Beginning tonight, the Dodgers will begin their final series of the regular season when they head to Denver to face the Rockies. The fact that they are playing in Colorado is crucial for Othani's chances, as the ballpark has been historically hitter-friendly because of the altitude. Also, Ohtani will likely steal a base, as he has had one in each of the last three series the team has played in.
How to win the contest?
According to the Heinz Instagram page, the entry process is pretty simple. If Ohtani hits 57-57, all you have to do is take a picture of you and a bottle of Heinz Ketchup while using #ShoeHeinz57. From there, you will have the chance to be one of the 57 who receive a limited edition bottle and free ketchup for life.
Whether Ohtani pulls it off or not, this season will go down as one of the greatest all-time by a player. After having the first 50-50 season ever by an MLB player and heading for his third MVP award, does he have one more big moment up his sleeve?
If he hits 57-57, then 57 lucky Heinz fans will have an additional reason to celebrate.
