Pokémon-themed donuts have been spotted at Krispy Kreme, but will the US catch 'em all?
By Sandy C.
Once again, foodies living in the States are experiencing a case of FOMO. Pokémon-themed doughnuts were spotted at Krispy Kreme locations in South Korea -- and South Korea only! Will these nostalgic and delicious-looking treats ever come to the US? Here's what we know!
This isn't the first time that Krispy Kreme has partnered up with The Pokémon Company for a fun and tasty collab, but they have really outdone themselves this time. First reported by Food Beast, Guilty Eats learned about these South Korea-exclusive Pokémon doughnuts and we have not been okay ever since.
Check out the image below from @pokejungle's X account to see just how adorable these doughnuts are! And they feature two of my favorite Pokémon, Psyduck and Pikachu! To say I am very jealous is an understatement. Or, should I say, I am very jelly, because I'm sure one of these doughnuts is a jelly one. My money is on Jigglypuff (and maybe Psyduck, too).
This set of doughnuts includes Ditto, Pikachu, Diglett, Jigglypuff, and Psyduck. A Diglett Krispy Kreme doughnut is an odd choice. I understand why it makes sense (Diglett is coming out of the donut hole), but Bulbasaur and Charmander would have been better choices. Maybe even replace both Ditto and Diglett with Bulbasaur and Charmander? But this is just the Pokémon nerd in me talking. Also, as you can see from the image above, a plain donut is in the half-dozen box. What a miss! The sixth doughnut could have simply been a Poké Ball. Okay, I'll stop hating now.
An order of a half-dozen gets you one of each Pokémon, with a regular glazed doughnut as the sixth, per the above. Meanwhile, an order of a dozen includes one Pikachu, one Diglett, one Jigglypuff, one Psyduck, two Dittos, and six regular glazed donuts.
According to multiple sources, foodies in America will not be able to catch 'em all. Not even one. Sigh. If only there was a DoorDash International option... The bill for this would be astronomical, but worth it! Sadly, if you want to enjoy one of these Pokémon doughnuts from Krispy Kreme, you'll need to fly to South Korea. If you do decide to snatch a box or two, don't forget to bring me one, please! Preferably a Psyduck, but I will settle for a Diglett.
