Are you looking for a way to shake things up as we head back to school? Are you trying to make salads that even a picky eater will enjoy? Then we have the perfect cookbook for you! The Salad Lab by Darlene Schrijver is the perfect collection of must try recipes for a wide range of salad offerings.

It is certainly hard to call a recipe book of salads a cookbook, but that is exactly what this is. This book has such a unique range of recipes, which include salads that have cooked products, and in a lot of cases, these recipes will change the way you look at a bowl of salad.

We had the opportunity to check out The Salad Lab for ourselves, and we decided to whip up some of these salads as a test to see if they really are worth trying. And this was hands down an unexpected delight.

Not only are there some amazing salad recipes that will change the way you eat a bowl of leafy greens, but it is also a reminder that there are so many ways that we can make a salad, even if those leafy greens are not in the picture.

Among our favorite recipes were the Fancy Italian Caesar (which is a classic anyway), the Lemon Basil Pasta Salad, the Chicken Pesto Pasta Salad, the Avocado Bruschetta, and the Waldorf Salad. But that being said, we have yet to really dive deep into some of the more fascinating recipes in this book, including the Breakfast Burrito Salad, the Pizza Salad, the Watermelon Feta Salad, and the Fisherman's Wharf Shrimp Louie.

This book has recipes that are perfect for holidays, school lunches, work lunches, and of course dinner time. As an added bonus, the recipes are broken down by categories such as Salad Lab Elements (think dressing recipes and croutons), Seasonal and Holiday Favorites, and even Celebrity-Inspired Favorites.

If you have ever wanted to shake up your salad routine, then The Salad Lab is for you! This is one cookbook we are so glad we have in our kitchen now.

Are you a fan of salads? Do you want to shake things up a bit to end the year? What do you think of a book of salad recipes?
