Stouffer's steps out of freezer with new boxed mac and cheese

Often, when you think about Stouffer's, the first thing that comes to mind is the frozen dinners available in the frozen sections of most grocery stores. But what if there was a way to get iconic comfort food from the company that gets stored in your pantry instead? The option is what Stouffer's is offering with their latest innovation.

Making its way to non-frozen sections of select retailers and Amazon this month before a national rollout in 2025 is Stouffer's Supreme Shells & Cheese. What will go down as the first diversion from frozen items for the company features two pantry-ready 12oz boxes that are said to contain 10% more cheese than the leading brands like Velveeta.

"Americans love their mac and cheese, and so do we! We saw an opportunity to expand beyond our favorite frozen options by introducing Stouffer's Supreme Shells & Cheese to provide a more cheese forward flavor experience than what's currently in the aisle," said Meghan McLaughlin, Senior Brand Manager for Stouffer's in a press release provided to Guilty Eats.

Per PR provided by Stouffer's to Guilty Eats, here is the description of the two options that come with dry pasta and liquid cheese sauce and are ready in 10 minutes:

• Cheddar Cheese: A bold take on classic comfort, this high-quality, supremely cheddar cheesy variety will become your pantry's new best friend.
• Three Cheese: A cheesy trifecta of Wisconsin white cheddar, gouda, and parmesan blended to create an elevated experience for cheese lovers.

Now, one thing to note about the new release from Stouffer's is it's not the mac and cheese where you pour water in and then heat up in the microwave. Think of the one you buy from the store and heat up on your stovetop.

That said, this will be a perfect option for those who want to enjoy this as a side or have it serve as the main course. And more importantly, welcome to the pantry section, Stouffer's.
