Subway Sidekicks menu review: We tried the Footlong Cookie, Churro, and Pretzel

Subway Sidekicks are here! But are the new collabos with Auntie Anne's, Cinnabon, and, er, Subway, worth it?

Subway Sidekicks: Cinnabon Footlong Churro

Here’s how Subway describes their churro:

A new Cinnabon Footlong Churro for $2, is baked to perfection, served warm and topped with Cinnabon's world-famous Makara® cinnamon and sugar.

I’m definitely telling on myself here, but I’m also not the hugest Cinnabon fan. It’s just all Too Much™. But this churro had a non-overwhelming amount of cinnamon sugar, and a really nice chew to it.

In fact, conversely to the pretzel, this stayed chewy the entire time, and I went back for thirds and fourths before realizing I had almost eaten the whole thing.

What this is missing is the crunch you get on the outside of a good churro, that gives way to the gummy texture inside. It should provide two textures, and this only had one. It’s also the least filling of the three items, so turns out once again nine-year-old intuition pays off… The footlong churro is a quick snack.

Overall, I would rather have an actual churro, and the experience might be elevated if there was a little cup of chocolate dipping sauce on the side or something. But for $2, if you’re already at Subway this is an okay alternative to chips or a cookie.
