When going out to Taco Bell, there is one drink that reigns supreme: Baja Blast Mountain Dew. But a new challenger has entered the arena, as the brand is testing out a new line called Agua Refrescas. And given what we know about the new drink, they might even give the ol' Baja Blast a run for its money.

“We want to make our beverages just as iconic as our food,” said Taylor Montgomery, Chief Marketing Officer via press release. “Our new Agua Refrescas are a perfect, vibrant pairing with everything our fans crave from Taco Bell and will help us on our journey to make Taco Bell a beverage destination.”

This new line is being tested in Irvine, CA near Taco Bell's headquarters. Sounds pretty promising, and the ideal climate to test these refreshing sounding bevies out. Made using a green tea base and some freeze-dried fruit, the drinks come in three flavors: Strawberry Passionfruit, Peach Mango, and Dragonfruit Berry.

All good things come in threes, so let's hope Taco Bell puts the green light on this one and takes the Agua Refrescas nationwide. Read on for a breakdown of each flavor, and what Taco Bell menu item we think would pair best with each drink.

What Taco Bell items should you pair with each Agua Refrescas drink?

Let's start with the first drink: Strawberry Passionfruit. I don't know about you, but that one sounds incredibly sweet. Maybe it's the mix of the two fruits together, so of course, we'd want to go with something meaty and savory. For that, the one food that stood out to me was the Nachos Bellgrande or even, the Loaded Beef Nachos from the Cravings Value Menu.

Given that the Strawberry Passionfruit is playing into two different flavors, you can delve into that feeling with some nachos. You get a little bit of everything in each sip or bite so why not try something with a similar flavor idea?

Moving onto the Peach Mango, the yellow/orange color and incredibly bright flavors make me think of the Doritos Locos Tacos... But I didn't want to go that simple. Instead, why not pair it with a Crunchwrap Supreme? Sometimes, you need to amp up something basic with something over-the-top -- and that's exactly what this pairing is.

Last but certainly not least is the Dragonfruit Berry. This is the one I'm most excited for as I've never tried Dragonfruit, but I feel like it's going to have a unique flavor. Due to that, I wanted to pair it with a unique Taco Bell item and for that, I'm going with the Mexican Pizza. Considering that this item was pulled from the menu and then put back on, these two coming together could be a match made in heaven.

Will these pairings come to pass? Unless we take a trip to Irvine, maybe, maybe. Here's hoping Taco Bell takes the Agua Refrescas nationwide. Since summer is right around the corner, this couldn't come at a more perfect time. Or a more perfect pairing.
