If there’s one thing about larger-than-life former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal, it’s that he’s never been afraid to take on a few side quests. Since retiring from the league in 2011, the four-time champion has done everything from DJing to working as a sports analyst on NBA on TNT — and even launched his own line of gummy candies featuring his face.
Add to that list: being a Papa John's franchisee. And yes, he has his own pizza creation, which is making a return to stores nationwide.
The Shaq-a-Roni pizza is back again at Papa John's
For what will be the sixth consecutive year, the Shaq-a-Roni pizza is heading back to Papa John's locations across the country tomorrow. The pizza, which is large, just like the 7'1" and over 300-pound Shaq, features extra cheese, extra pepperoni, and extra large slices for the reasonable price of $12.99 a person.
I don't know about you, but pepperoni is one of my favorite toppings. With more cheese and more pepperoni, the pizza is sure to fill you up quickly. It also seems like a great option to share with friends and family.
Plus, with the NFL Draft, the MLB season kicking into full gear, NBA playoffs, and the NHL playoffs all taking place right now. It's never been a better time to head over to your local Papa John's and grab a pizza.
I haven’t tried the Shaq-a-Roni yet, but I’m excited it’s back so I can finally see what an overload of cheese and pepperoni tastes like.
Ultimately, shout out to Shaq and Papa John's for returning a delicious pizza offering once again. And if you watch the NBA, this pizza may be a good comfort option as we watch the final run of NBA on TNT with Shaq, Ernie, Chuck, and Kenny — a show that has been a staple in many of our lives.
