In time for Halloween 2024, Dunkin' released their seasonal offerings that included Munchkin Buckets, the Potion Macchiato, and of course the Spider Donut. A delicious treat that was perfect for spooky season.

But what most of us didn't expect was for a Spider Donut social media takeover. In fact, what went down on the Dunkin' Instagram might just be the greatest thing we have seen in a while when it comes to marketing. That is because Spider Donut, who went by Spidey D on Instagram, decided that he was going to be in charge of the social media for Dunkin'.

Starting on October 21 and running through October 29, Spidey D was the donut behind the screen. From spooky posts to a holiday drop, Spidey D was all about the likes and comments. But it turns out that the holiday menu post was a step too far for Dunkin'. And it was time to ditch the Spider Donut and move on.

Dunkin' ditches the Spider Donut after holiday menu drop

After dropping the menu in the morning of October 29, Dunkin shared a video of Spidey D on the computer before he was trapped in one of their Halloween munchkin buckets. It was a moment and it led to a statement that let it be know that Spidey D was done.

In the statement from Dunkin', they revealed that what they felt was a "fun and delicious stunt quickly escalated into a rather chaotic situation." So what was the line that Spidey D crossed that led to his dismissal from the social media team? It was the one like for the holiday menu.

Check out the Dunkin' statement on Spidey D being done as social media guru below:

Honestly, we aren't the only ones sad to see Spidey D getting canned. He knew how to bring in the crowds and his sense of humor was definitely for a more adult audience. The fact that he got so many of us talking on the 'gram should have been enough to let him at least finish out his Halloween duties.

Even the comments on the Dunkin' statement have us thinking that his fans want a triumphant return. But as we all know, all good things must come to an end. And with spooky season coming to a close, it was likely time for Spidey D to say goodbye anyway.

What do you say fellow Guilty Eaters? Are you sad to see Spidey D go? Have you been following his social media antics on the Dunkin' Instagram?
