With Easter coming up on Sunday, it’s that time of year when many of us are indulging in some sugary favorites. And when it comes to holidays, cookies are always a top-tier treat to bake and share.
These days, though, many of the mainstream cookie brands are loaded with artificial dyes and extra sugar. Enter Sweet Loren’s, whose lemon cookie dough is back just in time for spring — and Easter.
A popular spring flavor without the guilt
There’s just something about lemon that screams spring. Maybe it’s the bright yellow color that reminds us of sunshine and warmer days after a gloomy winter. Or, possibly, it’s the clean, zesty feeling you get from freshly cut lemons. Either way, lemon and spring go hand in hand.
Sweet Loren’s, a growing brand known for healthier cookie dough, returned its lemon flavor as part of its seasonal collection — and thanks to them, I got the chance to try it.
One of the best things about these cookies is how easy they are to make. Just preheat your oven to 325°F, pop them in, and they’re ready in about 11 minutes. They come out looking fresh, golden, and seriously tempting.
A clean and refreshing taste
After one bite, I was won over. The lemon flavor tastes natural and bright — nothing artificial or overpowering — and the overall texture and flavor felt way more “real” than what I’m used to from brands like Pillsbury. Also, Sweet Loren’s cookies are free from the top 14 allergens while being gluten-free and vegan.
Along with the lemon cookies, I also got to try their Chocolate Chunk variety, one of the brand’s best-sellers. It’s hard to mess up a classic chocolate chip cookie — and this one didn’t disappoint. Similarly to the lemon, it was rich, satisfying, and made with clean ingredients.
More than just cookies
Even beyond the cookies themselves, Sweet Loren’s story is worth knowing. Founder Loren Castle was diagnosed with cancer at a young age and made it her mission to create healthier, cleaner food options. A portion of proceeds from the lemon cookie dough also supports Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which funds research for childhood cancer.
So, while cookies like Crumbl or Pillsbury may sound nice, if you desire something sweet without completely compromising your healthy and clean eating efforts, Sweet Loren's pre-cut cookie dough options may be for you. It can be found at locations nationwide now, but remember, the lemon cookie dough is a limited-time offering.
