Just one day after Popeyes announced its chicken wraps would hit locations nationwide, McDonald’s has responded — and it’s the news fans have been waiting nearly a decade to hear.
The beloved Snack Wraps are officially returning to McDonald’s on July 10. According to a post on the fast-food chain’s official Instagram account, the wraps will feature the new McCrispy chicken strips, which debuted in May, a tortilla, lettuce, and cheese. They’ll come in two flavors: spicy and ranch.
This announcement marks nearly 10 years since Snack Wraps disappeared from menus in 2016. In the years since, their absence has become one of the most frequently lamented losses in fast food, with social media campaigns, petitions, and nostalgic pleas flooding McDonald’s mentions.
And now, they're back — for good this time.
With fan buzz at an all-time high, expect long lines at drive-thrus nationwide. These aren’t just any chicken wraps — they’re the Snack Wraps, a cult favorite that many have been campaigning for since their departure.
This move also signals what may become the next major fast-food battle: the wrap wars. With Popeyes already rolling out its own version and McDonald’s firing back, it’s likely other chains will follow suit. Think of it as the chicken sandwich wars, but wrapped.
It’s also a smart business move. With beef prices continuing to climb — prompting many restaurants to hike prices or close entirely — chicken remains a more affordable and versatile option. That’s led to more deals and menu innovations centered around poultry and sides like fries.
But right now, the only thing that matters is the Snack Wraps, which will finally be back at McDonald's this July.
When these first disappeared, I was in high school. Today, I write this as a college graduate. That, my friends, is the magic of fast food comebacks.
