By Trey Weston
Tuesday night, another season of NBA basketball began. With exciting storylines such as the Celltics quest to go back-to-back, Victor Wembanyama's sophomore season in the league, and an exciting pool of new rookies, the sport is in for an exciting year. But off the court, the NBA reached a deal with a popular chicken wing spot that has become a go-to option for many.
The NBA is partnering with Wingstop
In sports, partnerships between leagues and food and beverages are recurrent. A few that instantly come to mind are Little Ceasers being the official pizza of the NFL or Budweiser being the official beer of the MLB. Now, the NBA is bringing in a partnership by reaching a multiyear deal with Wingstop, who will serve as the official chicken partner of the NBA and G League.
"Our fans love watching NBA while enjoying our cooked-to-order wings, hand sauced-and-tossed in our bold flavors," said Michael Skipworth, Wingstop's President & CEO, in a press release. "This partnership is another demonstration of Wingstop being in a category of one, claiming our spot as the Official Chicken and Official Wing Partner of the NBA."
Wingstop joins the many other partners that the NBA has
The NBA is known for its wide range of high-profile partnerships, and fans will easily recognize names like Google, Tissot, Rakuten, and State Farm. Now, the league is expanding its roster of partners in the food and beverage space, teaming up with the beloved wing destination, Wingstop
Wingstop will be involved with the NBA All-Star Game next year
As part of the partnership, Wingstop will have a presence at the upcoming NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco. However, the question remains: Will we eventually see Wingstop available at every arena, or at least similar to the NFL’s partnership with Little Caesars?
Perhaps this is wishful thinking, but we will see where this partnership goes in the coming years.
