Starbucks pumpkin spice lattes have an official 2017 release date

Pumpkin spice lattes are coming, specifically on Sept. 1, according to a cryptic tweet from the official PSL account.

The first day of fall isn’t until Sept. 22, but Starbucks has never been one to get too hung up on specifics. And even if the weather is still balmy — they have iced PSLs for that — the pumpkin spice latte will be making its much anticipated yearly debut on the official release date of Sept. 1.

Now, there’s a time and a place to discuss the merits of pumpkin spice as a flavor. But we have to imagine that if you’re interested in the debut date of Starbucks’ PSL, you are fully on board the pumpkin spice train. And, to your credit, the PSL is the O.G. pumpkin spice product and if you must support the flavor, might as well be classic about it.

The Twitter account for the PSL — which is actually truly messed up if you think about an anthropomorphic latte tweeting and encouraging its own demise — posted the following message a mere 5 days in advance of the debut:

Start planning now. (Interestingly, the PSL’s birthday is Oct. 10. Do with that information what you will.)

Honestly, the PSL Twitter account is a real weird place, given that much of the content is related to showing the PSL living an aspirational life all leading up to its return to stores and mass consumption. But, whatever. The internet is a real weird place, generally.

If you’re a fan of pumpkin spice lattes, this weekend is the time to shamelessly embrace your most basic self. Let it wash over you, like a related love of boots, apple picking and autumn leaf Instagrams.
