The English, Scottish, and Welsh have the taste of Canada and now it’s Northern Ireland’s to get their own Tim Hortons chain.

On Friday, you may have seen a huge queue forming in the middle of Belfast city center. A new Tim Hortons chain has opened in the world and chosen to bring a taste of Canada to the Northern Irish. It’s about time, considering England, Scotland, and Wales already get the chance to taste the brewed coffees and delicious donuts.

There were a few door prizes on the way in, with the first 100 people getting lunch on the company. The very first person was lucky enough to get a year of free coffee. Just how much of a fight was there about that?

Despite an initiative for healthy eating in the United Kingdom, there is still a love of fast food and donut stores. Krispy Kreme is usually the name you hear, but you might just start seeing more Tim Hortons coffee shops pop up—and the donuts are far superior to Krispy Kreme’s, although I may be biased as I live in Canada where there are four Tim Hortons within a 30 block radius!

There was plenty of excitement for the coffee shop opening. Of course, as it’s Belfast, there were plenty of warnings of stampedes and fights.

One of the benefits of the opening is the jobs that it’s created. There are also many more shops planned for the coming year, which means even more jobs. This will hopefully also continue around the rest of the UK. Since the opening of the first UK Tim Hortons in Glasgow in June 2017, there have been 16 more outlets including this one in Belfast.

Next: Tim Hortons’ breakfast donuts are coming and yes you definitely need them!
