ABC has greenlighted a new cooking competition show, Family Food Fight. It will pit eight families against each other to show who is the top food family in the country.

Endemol Shine North America will product Family Food Fight, recently greenlit by prime network ABC. Based on the same setup as the Australia show of the same name, the cooking competition will see eight families across the country go head-to-head to prove themselves to be the top food family.

Ayesha Curry is set as the host of the series, following her initial appearance as The Great American Baking Show host. She’d received praise from fans, but the show had been canceled abruptly after allegations of abuse against Johnny Luzzini. This is Curry’s second chance on ABC to make it into the nation’s hearts.

Curry will also serve as one of the executive producers for the series, along with Robert Flutie and Shab Azma.

Family Food Fight in Australia has recently been renewed for a second season. It’s produced by Endemol Shine Australia and airs on the network Nine. The series is often abbreviated to FFF, and sees families around the nation battling it out for the top prize money and bragging rights as top food family. In the U.S., the prize money will be $100,000.

In the Australian version, diverse families are given challenges to complete throughout the series run. Many of the challenges are inspired by real cooking and family traditions, unlike many other shows that focus on professional baking or restaurant dishes.
