Tonight is the last two-hour special of Masterchef Season 9. Here are all the details you need to catch the fourth part of the battles this season.
Masterchef Season 9 promised two weeks of two-hour specials. Episode 4 is the last episode of the two weeks and from next week we’ll only get one hour block of battle-cooking goodness. This is also the last week of cooks battling it out for a place in the top 24.
Masterchef has taken the style of The Voice, in making contestants earn their place in the top 24 before continuing with the competition. The cooks will then have the chance to be mentored by the judges who have picked them, helping them grow as a cook by learning from the best instead of battling it out purely in teams.

Episode 4 is the fourth and last part of the initial stages. The judges have just a handful of aprons left and tensions will be running high. After this week, it will be onto the mentoring phase when the judges are the ones to really do battle. With that in mind, you won’t want to miss out on this episode. The title of the episode is “Home State Heroes.” This suggests the cooks will be making a special dish from their state. The synopsis tells us the idea in more detail. The cooks will be asked to create a dish that includes a signature ingredient from their home state. This isn’t always going to be easy to incorporate into a dish, especially if they don’t have much experience in particular types of meals. This could definitely be fun!
