After proclaiming his life-time love for ABC daytime drama General Hospital, KFC’s Colonel Sanders is heading to Port Charles with a special promotional appearance on National Fried Chicken Day!
Who’d have ever pegged Colonel Sanders as a die-hard General Hospital fan?! All this week, the Colonel has taken to the official KFC Twitter account to tweet his episodes of reactions to the latest twists and turns unfolding in the fictional town of Port Charles.
From sending bad vibes in the direction of Port Charles villain Nelle Benson to championing for Sam and Jason to reunite, the Colonel has been quite busy this week tweeting along daily to ABC’s long-running daytime drama. While Soap fans couldn’t get enough of the sudden love the iconic fast food chain suddenly had begun showing for General Hospital, it turns out that the tweets were actually part of a new partnership between KFC and Disney-ABC!
According to reports, Disney-ABC and KFC have struck a new brand deal which will culminate on Friday, July 6 – aka National Fried Chicken Day – when the Colonel himself makes a special trip to Port Charles and crosses paths with a few of the drama’s beloved characters.
As reported by Daytime Confidential, legendary actor George Hamilton is set to drop in for a special appearance as KFC’s beloved founder where he’ll appear to promote the new Pickle Fried Chicken.

During his special visit, Hamilton is reported to brush elbows with Kristen Storms’ character Maxie Jones West and Emme Rylan’s character Lulu Spencer. Though, it remains to be seen how exactly the trio will come into contact, it seems likely that the scene will play out against the backdrop of a KFC restaurant.
While it’s not unconventional for food brands such as KFC to partner with iconic entertainment brands such as General Hospital leading to subtle product plugs, it’s definitely not every day that a fast food brand’s legendary mascot pops up on-screen for a surprise cameo.
