Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s Froot Loops Mini Donuts review
Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s have brought back the Froot Loops Mini Donuts and once again, they’re selling like hotcakes. But are they worth all the hype they’ve received?
That’s right everyone, Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s are bringing back their famed Froot Loops Mini Donuts that had consumers in a craze last summer.
The buzz surrounding these things piqued my interest with their initial release, but with their limited availability, I was unable to get my hands on them during their first go round. This time, however, I made sure to make the commute to lone Hardee’s location near me the moment they came out.

I found that these little treats very affordable as each box will run you about $1.99 before taxes for five assorted mini donuts. Not a bad price considering not only the amount but the rarity of the item itself.

But as always, you really clicked on this post to find out if they’re any good, right? I’m sure you’d like to know if they’re worth a possible commute or worth spending your hard-earned cash. Well don’t worry, I’ve got you covered on that end. Here’s a quick, yet in-depth review of these colorful little bites.
For starters, these are the exact same size as most mini donuts that you might find at the grocery store. While their colors vary, the taste of them does not. Much like the Froot Loops cereal, each donut tastes the same, so it’s likely that they simply use food coloring for aesthetic purposes.
I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of these donuts. I’ve got to admit, I was a bit skeptical about them going in, but they actually taste like bigger, softer, chewier versions of Froot Loops cereal. They have a soft cake-donut texture, and the texture of the frosting is similar to that of a chocolate covered hostess donutette.
Mine was a bit cold when I ate them, and I didn’t quite think of warming them up a bit, but that could be an option as well if you’re looking for really draw out all of the flavors. My ultimate opinion of these is they’re good, but a far cry from life-changing. They’re more of a gimmick than anything, and a great way to market a classic cereal.
If Froot Loops were your go-to cereal growing up, you will definitely love these and I recommend going out and getting them before it is too late. On the flip side, if Froot Loops were a cereal you didn’t care for, or only had once in a while like myself, then there’s really no reason to rush out and grab these, especially if you have to travel a long distance to do so.
But like I always say, this is simply a guide and breakdown of what this product is. So don’t take my word for it, go and find out for yourself what the Froot Loops Mini Donuts are like and see what you think!
