Detroit enjoys their new Chick-fil-A, for three hours

Detroit residents who were craving Chick-fil-A got their wish when the southern fast food chain opened up a pop-up restaurant for three hours.

If you enter “Detroit” into Chick-fil-A’s location page, you’ll find that the Motor City has one — sitting inside a hospital.

I don’t think many Detroit residents, who have long clamored for a standalone Chick-fil-A, are willing to go to the Detroit Medical Center just for a chicken sandwich and waffle fries.

Sensing their urgency, the Atlanta-based chicken chain came to the Motor City to hold a grand opening for a new Chick-fil-A in downtown Detriot. This was a godsend for Detroit Chick-fil-A lovers, a location right in the heart of their revitalized downtown!

The only problem is, the grand opening of their standalone Chick-fil-A would also turn into a grand closing three-hours after opening.

That’s because this wasn’t a full-fledged Chick-fil-A, but a pop-up location to tease the long-suffering fans of the chain with chicken sandwiches so good, you don’t even need to add mayo to it.

According to MLive, the pop-up location opened between 11 a.m and 2 p.m inside the Chrysler House on Griswold St. Local NBC affiliate WDIV got some cellphone footage, and the pop-up restaurant was packed. (Side note: I don’t think the camera guy realized they recorded this upside down)

We can only imagine that 2 p.m. struck, the city went back to sadness, facing the reality of if they wanted their fix of the mighty chicken, they needed to either go to the hospital or one of the chain’s locations in the city’s vast suburbs.

Currently, there’s no word of when Chick-fil-A will open a Detriot-proper location, but, we’ll stay on the case because Detroiters deserve to share in the goodness that is the kings of ‘eat more chicken.’
