This week’s Chopped preview: Eating green

Chopped Season 40, Episode 63 will feature a celebrity guest judge who may know a thing or two about this week’s featured foods.

Vegetables. You either hate them or barely tolerate them. Of course, the more creative you are with your veggie prep, the more likely you are to enjoy these healthy additions to your meals.

While you don’t have to be an experienced chef to add veggies to a stir fry or mix them into your breakfast omelet, cooking with fresh vegetables can significantly change the way you prepare a particular dish.

This week’s Chopped episode, “Eat Your Veggies!”, will challenge its chefs to make vegetables a part of each competition dish — even their desserts. But making veggies taste good isn’t the only challenge contestants will face this week. They’ll have to do all their cooking and judge-wowing in front of none other than Martha Stewart.

According to the episode synopsis:

"Martha Stewart judges a competition with garden goodies in every basket. In the first round, the chefs find some impressive greens and a sweet treat with a good-for-you spin."

With all the “healthy” dessert alternatives around these days, it’s going to be interesting to see which vegetables this week’s chefs will sub in for other ingredients — like eggs, butter, or sugar — in their desserts.

Crafting their dishes in front of Martha Stewart will definitely be the greatest hurdle of all, though.

The renowned chef and entertainer has had quite the roller coaster of a career. Whether you follow her closely or not, if you’re even remotely involved in the food scene, you know of her. And you definitely don’t want to disappoint her. How will this week’s contestants fare against this added pressure? Tune in on Tuesday night to find out.

How do you think you’d perform in the kitchen if you had to do everything in front of Martha Stewart — AND a bunch of cameras?
