Friday Favorite: Don Arturo’s Cocina y Cantina restaurant, a hidden gem

This week’s Friday Favorite edition goes to a personal favorite, Don Arturo’s restaurant, a hidden gem in Garland.

If you live in Dallas, Texas (Garland, specifically), do I have a restaurant recommendation for you!

Hidden gems are everywhere, you may just not be looking hard enough. In the case of Don Arturo’s Cocina y Cantina, it is clouded by its surrounding neighbors, one of them being Chili’s Grill & Bar. As you may have easily predicted, the hungry crowd Chili’s over Don Arturo’s. And can you blame them? Actually, yes, you should definitely blame them.

I love Chili’s as much as the next person, but to pick it over an authentic tex-mex food restaurant? Never. Don Arturo’s offers a variety of foods, all exceptionally cooked, and the service is quick and friendly. Best thing about it, and you’re likely asking this yourself, is that Don Arturo’s prices are the same as Chili’s. If the price is the same, why not go for better taste?

I first stopped by Don Arturo’s almost a year ago and loved it. And, as it turns out, on top of their amazing prices, they have very cool deals.

For starters, kids eat free Mondays and Tuesdays (all day). And let’s not get started on their Taco Tuesday deals. Need more? Happy Hour is Monday through Saturday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

From the several times I’ve visited, I can say my favorite plates are the tacos (chicken and carnitas are delicious), the ceviche appetizer, and their massive burrito. You must try these out.
