Gin lovers in the U.S. are in for a special treat this year thanks to the award-winning, cult favorite Monkey 47 Gin and their limited batch of Distillers Cut.

There are many gins in the world, and as one of the broadest categories of spirits, it makes sense that there are a lot of brands and distilleries to choose from. One distillery that has not only won awards, but is also a cult favorite happens to be Monkey 47, which helms from Germany, and does something that it feels like no other gin maker does by opting for a whopping 47 botanicals to craft this high-end spirit.

And while we could go on and on about Monkey 47 and their amazing distillery, we have exciting news about their limited batch of Distiller’s Cut gin. Every year in the fall, the distillery goes on what they call a quest to find the perfect 48th botanical to join the flavor profile of their signature gin. This limited edition, special release is known as the Distiller’s Cut, and while very little of this gin is released every year, it seems that this year, the U.S. is getting in on the action.

According to a press release from Monkey 47, starting in November gin fans in certain markets across the U.S. will be able to pick up a bottle of this special batch of gin. And it will also be available online at Reserve Bar for $80 per bottle.

For this year’s Distiller’s Cut, Monkey 47 is adding their 48th botanical which is Myristicae arillus. For those unfamiliar with Myristicae arillus, it is actually the seed covering of nutmeg which is commonly known as nutmeg mace. Known for its bitter taste and its “resinous aroma,” this botanical adds a new dimension to the gin you know and love. (And we are always down for a multidimensional liquor.)

As far as how to enjoy Monkey 47 gin, we highly recommend incorporating this into any number of cocktails. Considering the standard ABV of this gin is 47 percent, it makes sense that you would want to use this as a base for a well-developed and complex drink that is loaded with flavor.

There is a lot to love about Monkey 47 Gin, but the fact that they are finally offering their Distiller’s Cut in the U.S. is definitely at the top of the list. We can’t wait to get our hands on a bottle of this special spirit for the holidays.
