Burger King is running out of their most popular dipping sauce — Zesty, and I feel as if it is time for us to hit the panic button.

I take no joy in writing this story because the Zesty sauce at Burger King is my absolute favorite sauce. However, my job is to inform, so it brings me sadness to type this:

Burger King is running out of the Zesty sauce.

I know, I’m in pain and shock just like you are right now. There is zero debate that the Zesty sauce is the greatest dipping sauce ever known to man, but thanks to situations out of Burger King’s control, the Zesty sauce may be no more come early 2020.

Why is this? It has to do with a shortage of horseradish, the key ingredient that gives the Zesty sauce its “zesty” flavor. According to Business Insider, Silver Spring Foods, the world’s largest producer of horseradish, couldn’t harvest half of its crops because of an early snowfall.

Stupid snow.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, other horseradish producers have had similar early snow problems, which has led us to this pivotal point in Burger King’s sauce history. The loss of horseradish production has caused Burger King’s Zesty sauce production to dwindle, and if an alternative isn’t found soon, by February 2020, Zesty sauce could be no more in Burger King stores, at least until April, which is the next horseradish season.

This breaks our heart and we don’t know about you, but it feels like a personal blow to the tastebuds.

Why does the food Gods always have to do this to me? They know my love for the Zesty sauce runs deep. I dip my nuggets, fries, and Whopper in this sauce, it’s that good. Now, thanks to early snow, it could be no more? I feel as if the food Gods are punishing me for some unforeseen fast food law I may have broken.
