Dunkin wants to reward you with another month of free donut Fridays
By Kareem Gantt
Dunkin’ has decided to extend its free donut Friday promotion until the end of May. You may now proceed to freak out.
When Dunkin’ announced that it would be extending it’s free donut Friday promotion, many people promptly freaked out. Why shouldn’t Dunkin’ fans all over not cheer until their lungs can’t take it anymore over this news?
Not for nothing, but this announcement was a pretty big deal, and rightfully so. The coffee and donut giant first announced at the beginning of March that, every Friday, they would offer a free donut to its patrons. There was a catch, however: You had to be a DD Perks Reward Program member to take advantage of the promotion.
Another catch: You had to order a drink on the Friday in question to receive your free donut.
Neither was really problematic as the DD Perks Rewards Program is free to join and Dunkin’s coffees and drinks are (relatively) inexpensive compared to their rival Starbucks. You could take advantage of the perk either at the checkout counter or on their on-the-go app.
Voila! You had yourself a free donut.
The offer was supposed to end at the end of April, but the promotion became so popular that Dunkin’ decided to extend the offer until the end of May (cue rabid celebration), and as a bonus, the chain was also giving Monday a bit of TLC, offering its members $2 Iced Mondays in which customers can get medium iced coffees for — you guessed it — $2.
All-in-all, Dunkin’ has really been one of the leaders in the COVID-19 recession-era deal arena, and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they extended both offers into June to counter Starbucks planned reopening of their stores. However, that’s another story for another time. For now, enjoy your free donut!
You may now scream.
