The new Great British Bake Off host and his very bad first day

New Great British Bake Off host, Matt Lucas, is sick on first day

Sometimes, when we get overexcited about something (mainly food), we go overboard and eat too much. Who can blame us when there are so many delicious foods in the world? Well, that’s what happened on Matt Lucas’s first day as host on The Great British Bake Off.

First, let’s get to the news that, yes, we have a new host for the new season this year. Since Sandy Toksvig had to leave earlier this year, it’s been anyone’s guess who would have to fill her big shoes as a host alongside Noel Fielding. It turns out it’s English actor and comedian, Matt Lucas.

While UK audiences may be more familiar with him for starring in series like Little Britain, Come Fly with Me, and Shooting Stars, he’s not totally unfamiliar to American audiences. He had a small role in Bridesmaids, was in the 2010 film, Alice in Wonderland and the 2016 sequel, Through the Looking Glass, and even had a run on Doctor Who as Nardole, the companion to the Twelfth Doctor.

Now he’s on The Great British Bake Off and based on the reports from the set, he might be having too good of a time. On his first day, he enjoyed a lot of the contestants baked goods and by a lot, I mean he kind of made himself sick. But really, who can blame him? If I was surrounded by cake made by a bunch of great British bakers, I’d probably overeat too!

Just watching the show can make someone hungry. Imagine being on the set surrounded by the smells of sugar and baking cake and then not tasting them. Impossible! If nothing else, this clearly shows that Matt Lucas will fit right in with the audience who would very much like to be in his place.
