Taco Bell is doing away with more menu items this time: beware!

It’s no secret that Taco Bell has been making headlines in foodie news lately. Between them axing some fan favorites off of their menu, adding more, and then doing it again most recently, it’s pretty safe to say that some large changes are happening over at Taco Bell.

Yes, it’s devastating and we’re not happy about it, but if there’s any silver lining here, they have announced that some new and exciting things will be added to their menus later this year, as well as next year.

Previously, Taco Bell got rid of over 10 menu items, including anything with potatoes in it (still mad about that, but whatever). This time around, only a few things are going away, but I’m not sure why.

Listen up to what Taco Bell has decided to get rid of next! Hint: we’re sad!

Here’s what Taco Bell has decided to throw off of their menus nationwide:

  • Mexican Pizza
  • Pico de Gallo
  • ALL Shredded Chicken Items

Here’s a little bit about what Taco Bell had to say about the Mexican Pizza:

"Currently, Mexican Pizza packaging accounts for over 7 million pounds of paperboard material per year in the US…removing it from our menus helps us work towards out commitment to leave a lighter footprint on our planet."

Is that really the answer or are they just not selling as they’d hoped they would be? Here’s a little bit about what Taco Bell had to say about their Pico de Gallo:

"Our fresh diced tomatoes will be replacing Pico de Gallo. Guests can still order Fresco Style, which will soon mean swapping out nacho cheese sauce, shredded cheese….(and more)"

How will Fresco Style still be the same? Hmmm… Here’s a little bit about what Taco Bell had to say about ALL shredded chicken items:

"…Will no longer be a protein option on our menus…saying goodbye to the Shredded Chicken Soft Taco, Shredded Chicken Burrito, and Shredded Chicken Quesadilla Melt on November 5."

From potatoes, to now one of their most delicious proteins, what’s next?! ALL burritos?!

If you’re a bit sad like we are, Taco Bell is trying their best to soften the blow by adding some things to look forward to in the upcoming year (if that’s even possible at this point). According to their website, where you can read all about their menu changes and plans, here are some new things to (hopefully) be able to look forward to and make us happy again:

  • Chicken Chipotle Melt (available Nationwide) – new permanent menu item on their $1 value cravings menu – contains grilled chicken, chipotle sauce, shredded cheese, all rolled and melted together – Nov. 5.
  • Dragonfruit Freeze (available Nationwide) – seems to be the latest fruit craze all around the US lately between here and Starbucks/Dunkin – this tropical burst will begin on September 24, with all freezes now being served with flat lids as well.
  • Green Sauce (available Regional) – potential comeback from previous times – will only be available through select markets, starting Nationwide on Nov. 5.
  • Quesalupa (only testing in Knoxville, TN) – making it’s way back onto Taco Bell menus, with its first official test beginning in Knoxville, TN – classic Chalupa shell, stuffed with a Pepper Jack cheese blend, and Mozzarella, ensuring bites of cheese throughout – Sept. 24.

Okay, so I guess that’s not so bad, even though I’m still upset about some of the previous and most recent menu item changes here.
