The reason Bobby Flay is closing Mesa Grill in Las Vegas is not for reasons nearly as dramatic as many people seem to think.
The news that Bobby Flay was going to close the Mesa Grill in Caesar’s Palace came as something of a shock to many foodies. The restaurant, which is the last version of the Mesa Grill left standing, has become an iconic part of Las Vegas and a pilgrimage for self-respecting Bobby Flay fan.
So many worried that the closing of the Mesa Grill was an indication that Flay may be financial trouble, yet another victim of the global pandemic that has turned the restaurant industry on its collective ear. However, that is far from the case.

It turns out that Flay has simply decided to follow his current food passions and the Mesa Grill just doesn’t fit into that plan. As reported by Mashed.com, Flay is currently all about Italian food, in particular food from the Amalfi coast of Italy. As a result, the former Mesa Grill will transform into Amalfi in the spring of 2021.
The new restaurant will be very seafood-centric and will include a market, as well as a fishmonger. The monger will be able to explain to guests where the fish was caught, when it arrived at Amalfi and how it is best prepared. This will be Flay’s first restaurant with an Italian theme and has the food icon excited about the future.
That being said, Flay didn’t completely shut the door on the Mesa Grill making a comeback down the road. But for now, the Grill will serve its final guests on November 14. So if you never made the trip and you have some vacation time, now would be the time to use it.
