Make a Starbucks peppermint mocha at home with this recipe
If you’re over your pumpkin spice latte already and ready to move onto the next caffeinated holiday treat, what first comes to mind is probably a Starbucks peppermint mocha. It’s warm, minty, and gets you in the holiday spirit in two seconds flat.
But with the pandemic going on, you might not want to leave your house to get one, even if you are only waiting in the drive-thru pick up line. Luckily, food.com came up with a recipe for a peppermint mocha that you can make at home.
The ingredients include baking cocoa powder, hot water, peppermint syrup, espresso, and milk. You can even add red sugar and whipped cream if you want to make it really fancy.
First, you want to mix the cocoa powder and hot water together until there are no lumps. It will form into a syrupy mixture. Put the syrup at the bottom of a mug of your choice.
Add whipped cream and red sugar to make your drink just like Starbucks
Next, add in the espresso and stir until it mixes with the chocolate syrup. Then pour peppermint syrup into the mug and mix thoroughly. Now, steam up your milk either on the stovetop or using a steamer if you have one. Then pour the milk inside the mug and stir.
If you want a cold peppermint mocha, just skip the steaming process and pour in cold milk and add some ice. Finally, add whipped cream to the top and red sugar. That’s it! It’s really pretty simple as long as you have the right ingredients. Add a candy cane as a stirrer and you’ll be singing Christmas carols in no time.
