Robots are taking over the world! Well, maybe just fast food chain White Castle for now.

Remember when self-checkout registers were new, or am I just old? Now, machines are taking over another job at select White Castle locations. Is the fast food industry next? What will they think of next!

According to ZDNet, some White Castle locations tested out robotic fry cooks over the summer and it was a hit. The source shares that the machines helped greatly and expanded the automated “cook concept by ten times.”

This not only helps with preparing food faster, but it’s cleaner and can stay sanitized, which is a priority these days. The fast food industry may just never be the same.

The robot is by Miso Robotics and called Flippy, Robot-on-a-Rail or ROAR, now how adorable is that? It did wonders during the test trial and White Castle looks forward to adding more.

Will robotic fry cooks be at all fast food chains?

For the moment, the source shares that ROAR machines will be installed at 10 additional White Castle locations. So you may just have one near you!

With how well they supposedly work and help out, I wouldn’t be surprised if they became the normal thing to have at other fast food chains.

McDonald’s and Burger King could really benefit from these, particularly those locations that are open 24 hours a day! Drive-thru wait times and lines are long these days, so a ROAR could just save the day.

One has to ask, though, as much as ROAR will help the fast food industry, will it hurt employees? The unemployment rate isn’t the best as it is, and may not get better anytime soon because of the pandemic.

What are your thoughts on this? Are you for or against machines helping out with your fast food orders?
