Is KFC open on Thanksgiving Day 2020?

Thanksgiving is coming, but KFC might not be the place for a last-second meal

KFC is well known for its fried chicken and is a go-to for many people looking for a good order of fried chicken fast. As one of the biggest fast-food fried chicken chains in the country, it could be a viable option for people looking for a quick and easy meal this Thanksgiving. It’s not exactly the same as deep-fried turkey, but it is still delicious nonetheless. Eating enough KFC will also still help you fall into the same food coma your Thanksgiving turkey meal may contribute to.  With this in mind, we have to answer the question, will KFC be open this Thanksgiving? Unfortunately, the answer is complicated.

In looking around, finding out KFC’s availability on Thanksgiving day is not the easiest answer to search for on Google. This is partly because it is not just a yes or no answer. In speaking with KFC’s customer service, I was able to find that KFC’s operating hours vary by location as some restaurant locations will be open while others will be closed for the holiday.

What this means is that if you are looking for a bucket of the Colonel’s Original Recipe Chicken, you may be out of luck when heading to your local KFC on Thanksgiving Day. In checking with local locations near me, they will all be closed for Thanksgiving day. However, they are open normal hours the night before which in Massachusetts is 9:30 pm due to some state COVID safety restrictions.

There is an option if you still want some KFC to eat on Thanksgiving day

The fact KFC is open normal hours the night before Thanksgiving is definitely good news especially if you are not opposed to reheating your chicken the following day. So one thing you could do is go in on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and purchase a $30 Fill Up which will give you the same amount of food as a $20 Fill Up while also including an order of 12 Chicken Tenders or another 8-piece of chicken.

So you could use some for dinner the night before and then the rest for your Thanksgiving meal. You may want another large side of mashed potatoes and gravy or maybe a large side of mac and cheese to help complete one or both of the meals, if you prefer.

If you missed KFC the night before Thanksgiving and are still craving it on Black Friday, locations will be open at their normal opening time that day, but they will be closing early that evening. Check your local locations for details.
