Anya Taylor-Joy discusses being a vegan when possible
With The Queen’s Gambit breaking Netflix records, people want to know as much as they can about the series’ star, Anya Taylor-Joy. And that includes both her beauty habits and her eating habits.
Considering we will likely see more of Taylor-Joy after her turn as Beth Harmon in The Queen’s Gambit, it makes sense that people want to learn as much about the actress as possible. And according to The Cheat Sheet, it seems that the 24-year-old is technically a vegetarian, avoiding meat and fish at every meal. However, when it is possible, she does try for a vegan lifestyle.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the actress herself explained that, “I don’t think there is a problem with eating cheese or eggs or anything like that. It’s the mass production of it and it’s the fact that there are very few laws that cater to animal cruelty.”

The actress admits to having a very healthy appetite and when she was eating a vegan diet, not only was she “the healthiest I’ve ever felt,” but she was also getting in a lot more “greens.”
Officially a vegetarian, whenever possible, Taylor-Joy opts for a vegan lifestyle, although her work life does keep her busy which can make being strictly vegan a challenge. Of course, even as a vegetarian, there are certain foods that the actress is especially fond of.
According to Anya Taylor-Joy, “As a vegetarian I love a lot of Italian food – but I don’t get that many greens in there.”
While it seems that a lot of her decision to be vegan revolved around being “ecologically conscious,” it is clear that she is quite happy with her greens and the foods she is able to eat.
