TikTok has announced their top 10 food videos of 2020
With everyone at home, people have been cooking and baking more than ever and sharing their creations on TikTok. While the videos are 60 seconds or less, you can still learn how to make everything from banana bread to donut cereal. There were also plenty of food hacks and celebrity chef videos to keep up entertained while we were social distancing.
But what were the top TikTok recipes and food hacks of 2020?
One of the biggest trends this year was making normal breakfast foods into cereals. Donut cereal and pancake cereal both made the top ten list this year.
These recipes really just involve making mini versions of pancakes or donuts, throwing them in a bowl, and then pouring either syrup or milk on top. People really had a lot of time on their hands.

A recipe for whipped coffee also made the list this year. It’s simply whipped cream, ice, coffee, and some milk. With so many places closed, a lot of us had to become our own baristas and this made getting a whipped iced coffee so much easier.

More in the mood for banana bread? Besides sourdough starters, banana bread was a huge trend in 2020. It’s delicious and a great way to use bananas that are a little too ripe to simply eat. Throw in some pecans or some chocolate chips for a little crunch and well…chocolate makes everything better and you have a snack to get you through the worst days of lockdown.

Ice cream cakes also blew up this year mainly due to Dylan Lemay’s account. All his videos show him at work making ice cream cakes for clients and they’re fascinating to watch and bound to make you very hungry. Dylan also tells interesting stories or gives tips on making ice cream cakes.

Some of the other trends include making chocolate from scratch (just buy a Hershey’s bar, y’all) and making your own chocolate hazelnut spread. Not gonna lie, I do want to try to make the Nutella. It’s way more expensive to make it than to buy it, but it looks fun.

The list also includes a TikTok of a bone sliding effortlessly out of a pork butt (so satisfying), a woman who likes to put cream cheese on bell peppers, and then add different ingredients (the pepperoni one looks good), and of course, the one and only, Gordon Ramsay.
The one where his daughter, Holly, makes potato gnocchi and asks him to reacts to her less-than-great skills is hilarious!

This year has certainly been rough, but these videos made it a little brighter and also gave us a few ideas of what to make while we were stuck at home. It will be interesting to see how the trends change in 2021.
