Cooking reality shows are always chaos. Whether they are the super serious Top Chef or the caring and supportive Great British Baking Show, there’s always mess and stress. With the Canadian Great Chocolate Showdown coming to the US, that trend doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon.
The Great Chocolate Showdown already aired on Food Network Canada and was one of the top 10 series so now it’s headed to America and will premiere on The CW. There is no exact date on when it’s coming but we can look for it later this year.
The cooking competition follows 10 bakers as they make complicated chocolate creations that will hopefully impress the judges. The judges include Anna Olsen, a bestselling cookbook author who was also on Junior Chef Showdown, Cynthia Stroud, a British cake designer, and Steve Hodge, a chocolatier and pastry chef.

I do not envy any of these contestants. Chocolate is hard to work with even in the best conditions. Having to make something under stress and with judges watching you makes it even more difficult.
The Canadian Great Chocolate Showdown comes to The CW later this year
I predict lots of melting and plenty of breakdowns, but also some truly amazing chocolate masterpieces.
It’s also interesting that this show is coming to The CW. You don’t really expect the network of Riverdale and Supergirl to also have cooking shows.
But this isn’t even the only cooking competition on the network. They aired Fridge Wars, a cooking competition where chefs had to make amazing meals with food from Canadian family’s refrigerators, last summer. (Maybe they will really make us really happy and give us The Great Canadian Baking Show next? We can only hope, especially if they are going from Fridge Wars to the Great Chocolate Showdown!)
