When I first saw that Lady Gaga and Oreos were collaborating on a cookie, I was very excited. I love Lady Gaga and I love Oreos. How could these cookies not be amazing? And when the images of the cookies came out, I was even more excited. Pink and green Oreos?? Yes, please. Unfortunately, the flavor does not live up to that excitement.

Let’s start with the basics. What do they look like? The cookies are a coral pink color and have different designs on them ranging from a heart to the word “Chromatica” to Lady Gaga herself. The cookies are also the golden, vanilla version instead of the original chocolate one.  The filling is green but is just the basic vanilla cream flavor.

The cookies come in bright pink packaging with “Lady Gaga” written across it in shiny silver lettering. There is also a big rip printed on the front that cuts through her name showing what the cookies look like inside the package.

Now for the taste. Sadly, the packaging and the look of the cookies are much more interesting than the taste.

Lady Gaga and Oreos collaboration leaves much to be desired

When you think Lady Gaga, you think explosions of color, a unique point of view, and something that keeps you coming back for more. The flavor of these cookies is literally plain vanilla. The cookie is vanilla and the cream is vanilla. That doesn’t scream Lady Gaga.

Sure, you get that same crunchy and smooth contrast when you bite into it and the cream to cookie ratio is perfect, but the flavor is nothing special. To put it simply, they put a fancy facade on a vanilla cookie. They could have done something amazing with unique flavors but they just covered a plain cookie with vibrant colors. It’s incredibly disappointing.

I get that we all don’t immediately think of good food when we think of Lady Gaga, but if she was going to really do this collaboration, it should have been way better. This feels like she just slapped her name on it.
