While the Shamrock Shake at McDonald’s is the most popular St. Patrick’s-themed drink each season, there are a few others that give it a run for its money!

Guilty Eats already compared the Shamrock Shake to the Leprechaun Frappuccino from Starbucks. It was a close call, but the iconic Shamrock Shake won that round. Now, mashed suggests foodies compare the Shamrock Shake to Burger King’s Oreo Irish Mint Shake.

I have to say, this round will be very close. Mainly because McDonald’s and Burger King are already competitors. Sure, you can argue why or why not Starbucks drinks are better than McDonald’s, but Burger King is a fast food joint that competes directly with McD’s.

From its dollar menu to its deals, Burger King and McDonald’s go head to head often. Will Burger King dethrone the Shamrock?

There is no clear answer here, I’m sure our taste buds agree and disagree on many things. But let’s compare to throw in our two cents.

McDonald’s Shamrock Shake vs Burger King’s Oreo Irish Mint Shake

The McDonald’s drink is bright and pretty green, perfect for the season. It’s for St. Patrick’s Day, sure, but the color also reminds us of spring. And after winter (particularly this year’s terrible winter storm) we can all use a little more green.

It features vanilla soft serve blended with the iconic and secret formula Shamrock flavors! To top it off, there’s whipped cream.

Meanwhile, the Burger King features the same colors. The offering has minty-vanilla with Oreo cookie chunks. It’s less minty thanks to the cookies, and has that extra crunch (again, because of the cookies).

The source may disagree with me, as they name the Shamrock Shake the superior drink, but I’m sorry, McDonald’s, you just can’t beat Oreo cookies in a minty-vanilla soft serve!

Not so fast, though! Let’s not forget that McDonald’s also has a St. Patrick’s-themed drink with Oreo bits — the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry.

And when it comes between the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry and the Oreo Irish Mint Shake, it’s the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry every time.
