Today is International Family Equality Day, and sparkling water brand bubly is celebrating LGBTQ+ families worldwide by teaming with non-profit organization Family Equality on a campaign to support LGBTQ+ parents. More specifically, the campaign will shed light on some of the obstacles LGBTQ+ parents and parents-to-be face when it comes to starting and raising families, promoting inclusivity and raising funds to help them overcome those roadblocks.

The bubly campaign consists of three separate elements: an art book, a baby registry fundraiser and a social media campaign:

  • The Path to Parenthood: LGBTQ+ Edition: Artist and community organizer Wednesday Holmes partnered with Family Equality to bring us the path to parenthood, a book that will offer readers an illustrated representation of “the journey many LGBTQ+ parents and parents-to-be navigate.” Family Equality is selling the path to parenthood at www.familyequality.org/bubly, but those interested in purchasing it can also do so on Amazon, Book Baby, and Barnes and Noble. The money from book sales will go toward the non-profit and its initiatives to support LGBTQ+ families.
  • Baby Registry for LGBTQ+ parents: As part of its International Family Equality Day campaign, bubly will also host a “baby registry,” putting a twist on the traditional concept and selling faux items that represent the financial roadblocks LGBTQ+ parents often grapple with. Donations made through the registry will be used to fund Family Equality’s efforts.
  • #InTheProcess: As part of its attempt to amplify LGBTQ+ voices, bubly will feature stories from LGBTQ+ parents across its social media channels using the hashtag #InTheProcess. Those who partake can share their stories on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, highlighting their experiences and why they believe LGBTQ+ parents need further understanding and support.

In addition to its campaign initiatives, bubly will also donate $100,000 to Family Equality. The brand has been a longtime supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. In 2020, it held a virtual Pride parade to celebrate Pride Month, and it previously teamed with SAGE on a campaign to uplift LGBTQ+ elders.

Zach Harris, vice president, water portfolio at bubly’s parent company, PepsiCo, highlighted the brand’s continued efforts, saying:

"“bubly always has always been a firm supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, as we believe all individuals, no matter their background, sexual preference or circumstance, have the right to pursue their fullest life. We are thrilled to join forces with Family Equality in our latest effort to inspire awareness and support for families of all flavors.”"

PepsiCo also revealed that Family Equality will join its lineup of charity partners for PepsiCo Gives Back’s employee match program. The non-profit organization is enthusiastic about working with the company to secure support and resources for LGBTQ+ parents.

“The path to parenthood can be challenging for anyone, but those in the LGBTQ+ community working to build a family of their own often face additional obstacles and financial burdens,” said Stacey Stevenson, CEO of Family Equality. “Family Equality is thrilled to partner with a like-minded ally such as bubly to help provide needed resources for LGBTQ+ parents, as we continue the fight toward family inclusivity.”
