Recently Adam Sandler tweeted out that the reason he had left an IHOP location was because the all-you-can-eat deal didn’t include milkshakes. It was a simple tweet that seems to have gained some steam. In fact, with over 113,000 likes on Twitter as of May 6, is it any wonder that IHOP has responded?
In a press release from the company, they announced that on Monday, May 10, IHOP locations will be celebrating what they are calling Milkshake Monday. However, there are two different parts to this celebration inspired by the Sandler tweet.
On Long Island, New York 19 locations will be offering all-you-can-drink milkshakes running from 12 to 8 P.M. ET. Of course, that doesn’t mean IHOP fans across the country can’t enjoy a little milkshake magic of their own.
According to the press release, outside of Long Island, IHOP locations will be donating $1 for every milkshake purchased to Comedy Gives Back. This is an organization that helps the comedy community, which has struggled in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. (It was also noted that in 2020, Adam Sandler was a headliner for a Comedy Gives Back Laugh Aid event over livestream to raise money for COVID-19 relief.)
IHOP responds to Adam Sandler tweet with a day dedicated to the mighty milkshake
Kieran Donahue, the CMO for IHOP explained,
"We take our guests’ suggestions very seriously in an effort to continually shake things up and satisfy all palates with our signature commitment to IHOSPITALITY. There is no better way to kick off the week and enjoy our craveable menu than with a house-made milkshake, or as many as you can drink. For more than 62 years, we have welcomed everyone – famous and familiar – to pancake, smile and laugh together under our blue roof."
And we are here for this. Not only is this an epic way to support artists (comedians are artists too) who have been impacted by the pandemic, but it is also an epic experience for people on Long Island who will be able to enjoy all-you-can-drink milkshakes.
Honestly, we wish the chain had expanded the all-you-can-drink offer to more locations, but at least this way we can still enjoy a milkshake and support a good cause.
