Crime Scene Kitchen combines mystery and baking! Let’s see what’s in store!

Here’s the premise of the show: each week there are two challenges. In both challenges, before the baking actually begins, each team has a chance to ‘investigate’ the kitchen. There are dirty dishes, used utensils, things in the fridge, and definitely some things to fool you (a few this week) and throw you off guard just a bit.

The winners of the first challenge will get one extra clue in the second challenge – huge advantage!

In the premiere episode of Crime Scene Kitchen, the first challenge had the following clues:

  • Pie tins (not used)
  • Cake pans in the dish dryer
  • Raspberries (unopened)
  • Eggs in the sink
  • Pot of pastry cream in the sink
  • Chocolate remnants and powdered sugar on the counter
  • Almonds dipped in chocolate on the counter

Here’s what each team made, based off of the clues that each team saw in the Crime Scene Kitchen:

  • Nathan & Anthony – Bakewell Tart
  • Jay & Thuy-Linh – Boston Cream Pie
  • Carolyn & Caroline – Dacquoise
  • Luis & Natalie – Sacher Torte
  • Amanda & Erinn – Lemon Chiffon Pie
  • Thomas & Cathy – Boston Cream Pie

MYSTERY DESSERT: Boston Cream Pie

WINNING TEAM: Thomas & Cathy (showpiece advantage)

The second challenge in Crime Scene Kitchen is called the Main Event – the Showpiece Round. Whoever comes in last place this round will unfortunately be eliminated and go home.

In the second Main Event/Showpiece Round challenge, here were the following clues:

  • Some sort of nut shell
  • A spoonful of coconut cream cheese frosting
  • Grater with shreds of carrot
  • Opened bag of shredded coconut
  • Dirty cinnamon shaker
  • Eggs in the sink
  • Veggies on the counter w/ corresponding colored modeling chocolate
  • Ginger on the counter
  • Scraper with frosting on it to indicate a naked cake
