In July 2020, we here at Guilty Eats did a review of the Walmart Marketside loaf slice offerings. At the time, there were three flavors we got to try – “the Iced Marble, the Iced Lemon, and the Banana Nut.” And even then, we were pointing out that these were very much a great alternative to the Starbucks bread slices that we can get in their cafes.

Now, it seems that Tik Tok has discovered the magic of the Marketside Loaf Slices. According to Yahoo News, it seems that a Starbucks lover on Tik Tok has tried the Iced Lemon Loaf Slices from Walmart and they are basically a dupe of the Lemon Loaf at the coffee chain.

Tracey Nicole (@itracynicole), the Tik Tok user who shared this information with her followers, was letting people know that for $1, they can get a slice of lemon cake that really could pass for the lemon loaf slices at Starbucks. Of course, the company was quick to point out that they are not the same cakes, and we get that.

The thing is that, while the Marketside Loaf Slices at Walmart may not be the exact same thing as what is actually sold in Starbucks, they are really delicious and they could easily stand in for those loaf slices when they are out of stock in your local coffee shop.

And while Nicole was only talking about the Iced Lemon Loaf Slices, on a more personal note, I have to say that the same holds true for the Banana Nut Loaf Slices as well. And maybe I am losing it, but I could have sworn that at some point in the history of Starbucks, they offered an Iced Marble Loaf Slice of their own. Even if they never did, this particular loaf slice is still a winner and worth pairing with our favorite Starbucks drinks!

Whether these are the exact same loaf slices as what they sell in Starbucks or not (they are not), they are delicious and they are close enough to satisfy our cravings. The fact that they are just $1 per slice in Walmart versus whatever the price is in a Starbucks is another bonus we can’t overlook. But sometimes, there is something to be said for the convenience of getting a sweet treat with your coffee in one easy order.
