Starbucks is giving it’s iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte a run for its milk (or money, but we like milk better) this Fall with the arrival of the new Apple Crisp Macchiato.

When the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew arrived on the Starbucks Fall menu a few years ago, we fell in love. And for a while we thought that this could be the drink to dethrone the classic Pumpkin Spice Latte from it’s Fall throne. We were wrong, but we can admit that. (I mean we still love our Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, but there is something about that PSL that we can’t resist.)

However, it looks like Starbucks has finally found a worthy contender to take on the PSL for real. And that’s all thanks to the arrival of the Apple Crisp Macchiato.

As someone who already loves the Caramel Macchiato, I had to give this new Fall a try. And I am so glad that I did! This drink was so good, I was like disappointed when I hit the bottom and all that was left in my cup was ice cubes and a little bit of the apple drizzle.

Starbucks introduces the perfect Fall drink with the arrival of the Apple Crisp Macchiato

I tried the Iced Apple Crisp Macchiato with no changes to their recipe (so no additions or subtractions) and it was perfect from the very first sip. It was sweet without being too sweet and the apple flavor came through every time. In fact, it reminded me of an actual apple crisp with the perfect blend of spices and sugar to apple ratio.

Considering this Macchiato is a rather simple drink with espresso over milk, with a drizzle that is described as “caramelized-spiced apple.” There is also a syrup of brown sugar with the apple that just is amazing.

The flavors are so layered that they work perfectly with the espresso and they end up blending in a way that just tastes like magic in a cup. This is the perfect Fall treat and yes, it just might be the drink to take down the mighty PSL. (It probably won’t, but for some of us, this is a new favorite!)

Are you excited for a new Fall beverage on the Starbucks menu? Do you love apple flavors? Will you be giving the Apple Crisp Macchiato a try? We want to know.
