Food brands have been coming out with merchandise left and right and for the most part, it’s been fine. That has now changed. One brand has officially jumped the shark and taken it too far. Who? Tropicana. What have they done? Come out with a toothpaste that doesn’t make orange juice taste awful when you drink it after brushing your teeth.

I have said this before but this time I really mean it: what’s going on with the research and development team? Or maybe it was marketing? Who decided this should exist and who backed them up on it? We need to have a talk. I need to know the thought process.

So how does this toothpaste work? Well, to “protect” the taste of the orange juice, it doesn’t contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). SLS is the cleaning agent used in toothpaste that makes for the awful aftertaste you get when drinking orange juice after you brush.

Questions! If it’s a cleaning agent, does this toothpaste not actually clean your teeth? Is this just a marketing/promotion thing? Will this actually clean teeth or should I still be brushing my teeth later? It protects against my OJ tasting awful but will it still protect my teeth? Inquiring minds and dentists (probably) want to know!
