Channel your inner pirate with this cocktail recipe for a Black Beard with Bumbu
Are you looking for a perfect cocktail this Fall? Do you want to show off your inner pirate this Halloween? Then Bumbu has the cocktail for you.
Have you heard of Bumbu before? If not, it is a Rum that is distilled in Barbados and comes in gorgeous bottles (seriously, these bottles look like they could be on a pirate ship as treasure) in a variety of options. At this point, Bumbu offers a range that includes their Original Rum, their Bumbu XO, and Bumbu Creme.
For us, Rum has always been hit or miss. It has to be smooth for us to enjoy it. And while we do enjoy ourselves a Coconut Rum in a cocktail, there is something to be said for a sip that is less sweet and more balanced, which is what we get with this brand of Rum.
And heading into the Halloween weekend, we were looking for some cocktail inspiration. That is where the Bumbu Black Beard came to play. Here is a drink that seems perfect for Halloween, while also being a great addition to our Thanksgiving table and beyond.
How to make Bumbu’s Black Bear cocktail
So how exactly do we make a Black Beard? And what all do we need? It turns out this is another easy to whip up cocktail!
What you need:
- 1.5 ounces of the Bumbu Original Rum
- 1/4 ounce of Coca-Cola reduction (this is as easy as simmering coca-cola in a pot until it becomes more of a syrup)
- 1/2 ounce of Batavia Arrack
- 6 drops of Angostura Bitters
What to do:
In a mixing glass, add all of your ingredients. Next, add in ice and using a spoon, stir for at least 20 seconds. In your drinking glass, add a large ice cube and then strain the mix over the ice cube.
Your drink is done, but that leaves you without a garnish. For this cocktail, they recommend a “flamed orange chip.” However, I like using a fresh orange slice because of the citrus pop.
However you like your cocktails, this could end up being a new favorite. And if you happen to find a new Rum to add to your home bar, then we think that is a win. But what do you think? Does the Black Beard sound like the cocktail for you?
