It would appear that McDonald’s is now getting into the “Introduce a new item that sounds frickin’ awesome but only in Canada and don’t share it with the United States” game. And if we’re being honest, it really hurts.
Why? Because while Burger King has been doing this to us for months now (I’m looking right at you Franken Whopper) we didn’t think McDonald’s would do us wrong like that. Watching the Golden Arches deprive us in the good old USA of something as amazing as what they’ve given to Canada stings.
What have they given to Canada you ask? What could possibly get us this upset and seriously consider moving north? Well, let us tell you.
According to the fine folks at Chewboom, the new menu item is a fresh take on the McDonald’s classic Quarter Pounder. And it includes the one word that will get the attention of any self respecting burger lover. That word being bacon.
McDonald’s gives Canada the Bacon ‘N Crispy Onion Quarter Pounder.
McDonald’s is calling it the Bacon ‘N Crispy Onion Quarter Pounder and if that already sounds really tasty, you wouldn’t be wrong. It includes a quarter-pound beef patty (hence the name) that is topped with hickory smoked bacon, crispy onions, a grilled onion sauce, cheese, ketchup, mustard and pickles all on a sesame seed bun. And it’s also available as a double.
There is literally nothing in that entire paragraph that sounds bad. How could anyone say no to that? Oh right. If you live in the United States you’re out of luck. Because the Bacon ‘N Crispy Onion Quarter Pounder is only available. In. Canada.
Why do the fast food people keep doing this to us?
Hopefully McDonald’s will see the error of their ways and the new burger will make its way south so the rest of North America can get in on the fun. But until then we will just have to suffer in silence.
