Baileys Irish Cream and Dominique Ansel make cocoa magic

Ask anyone what drink best represents the Christmas Season and odds are they will say hot chocolate. I mean, they literally drink it in every Hallmark Christmas movie so, there you go. And for those of us in the room who like our hot cocoa with a bit of a kick, we of course add some Baileys Irish Cream.

I mean, I don’t know if they do that in the Hallmark movies, but it would help explain why all the people in those goofy movies are so damn happy all the time.

Anyway, hot chocolate with a splash of Baileys is about as Christmas as the tree or Santa. So when someone comes along and says they are going to try and reinvent the holiday classic, forgive us if we seem a bit skeptical.

Of course, when that someone is award-winning pastry chef Dominique Ansel, well, consider us interest piqued.

According to the press release delivered by some elves we know, Baileys and Ansel have teamed up to give hot chocolate a new spin. Together they have created a unique holiday gift for you and that special someone in your life.

They’re calling it the Baileys Swirl Hot Chocolate Kit and inside you will find everything you need to make two perfect cups of hot cocoa. And when we say everything you need, we mean it. Ansel and Baileys really covered all the bases.

In the kit you will find homemade chocolate ganache, a second ganache that has been infused with the flavor of Baileys Irish Cream (the non-alcoholic version) as well as a gold mini whisk, a pair of glass mugs that include “Yours” and “Mine” tags and even pipping bags so you can create the signature swirl.

And of course, if you happen to have a bottle of Baileys Irish Cream lying around, there’s nothing stopping you from adding a dash of that as well. No worries. We won’t tell anyone.

The Baileys Swirl Hot Chocolate Kit is only available for a limited time at Dominique Ansel’s bakery in New York and at his website. It will set you back $45 and when they’re gone, they’re gone. So if you want to create some special memories this Christmas over a classic holiday drink, you can’t really go wrong with this gift.
